hey K9, very funny you've heard of it on the toyota truck board, i first heard of it on the land rover bbs. They too sing the praises of it, into the oil, into the gas, even straight into the manifold. All to keep'er clean i guess. I asked this same question some time ago and got the usual snakeoil responses. The rover boys claim it can un-stick fudged up hydrualic lifters and remove mega carbon build up on the valves. I've yet to find a place that sells it.

I was following behind an pimped out acura integra the other day, and there was a big cloud of blue smoke coming out of it's tail pipe. Pretty normal for suped-up hondas with screwed up engines, and as we pulled up next to him at an intersection he saw us almost snickering at what was probably wrong with his car. He (a skinny 16 or so year old) said "what the f**k are you laughing at?!" My passenger said "I'm not laughing, i am choking on the big cloud of burning oil coming from you car." Very offended, he shouted "s**t, it's not f*****g oil, it's seam foam you f*****g stupid b****c! F**k off!" and then peeled off the line and backfired. Anyway, i was wondering what sea foam was. Now I know.

you should have got out and beat his ace for talking to an adult that way. the guy on the toyota board talking about it pulled a vacum tube from his pcv valve and pour it right in he stated. he said it smoked like a mofo but after two more applications and putting two cans in a half a tank of gas (8gal in a tacoma) he said his truck never ran better, increased fuel mileage and made his girlfriend cuter too. well i added the last part, but i figured i would throw it out here because i trust the experts here more than the toyota board. plus, i thought it may have been an eastcoast product, kinda like we have in&out burger....

It's good stuff. I just used it in a Miata that set for nearly 5 years. Replaced the fuel pump and tank (not an easy job), poured in fresh gas and Seafoam, changed the oil and added a little Seafoam to it as well. Started right up and after a 10 minute drive, it ran as smoothly as when it was parked. Amazing little cars.

Totally OT, but "sea foam" is "meerschaum" in German and some other languages, including English, use the term, as in "meerschaum pipe", a tobacco pipe made from this white mineral stone material called "sepiolite". Anyway, years ago, my wife and I spent 15 minutes watching a dead-serious and fascinating documentary about how these guys were collecting "sea foam" from the surface of the sea, dumping huge masses of it into some condensing machinery, and out comes the "meerschaum" material to carve these beautiful pipes from. Later that evening, it took the announcement, that it was that day the 1st of April, to wake both of us up to the reality that the whole thing had been a traditional fool's day hoax... ...sea foam... OK.... try it and let me know

This 'Seafoam' appears to be quite similiar to Marvel Mystery Oil though the 'Seafoam' may contain a stronger solvent base. I am partial to the Marvel Mystery Oil and have used this product for several years now (it does go into the 911's gas tank between Techron treatments). I also use this product in my other engines (lawn mowers, garden tiller, Honda 4-wheeler, & Honda Civic) in both the fuel and oil. I do not have any definitive proof that things have improved through the use of this particular treatment other than it appears to be capable of keeping the gas / oil systems clean.
