Removing glass from rear quarter windows
This is an early car, so it's easy to remove the whole frame from the car.
But is getting the glass out simply a matter of backing out the screws in the frame? Am I going to have to remove (and reinstall) the rubber seal around the outside?

Yes, you just pull the screws. It's pretty easy to take out.
I assume you are putting in lexan? You can re-use the rubber if it's in good condition. The inside peice is pretty easy to replace. The outer peice is another story.

Yes, you will have to take off the outside seal. It is snapped into the channel.
Once you remove the outer seal, you will see two screws on each side of the front corners. I found it was easier to pull the screws on the curved section. then the end section slides out and takes an angle bracket with it. Othewise, you will have to take those screws out anyway. The glass will then slide forward out of the curved section. Careful with the screws, they will strip easily and are likely corroded in place. the rubber will likely be stuck to the frame. Careful removing so you can reuse it. Look at items 23-28 for a parts breakdown.

I refuse to respond to any questions about Jack's car that do not include a gratuitous photo.

Thanks. I wanted to make sure there were no surprises. It looks like I can leave the seal on most of the frame, but pop off the straight end.
Yes, Chuck, it's Lexan replacing Lexan. I found out that brake cleaner is no good for cleaning tape residue off of Lexan. ![]() And here's a gratuitous photo of the quarter window in question, for my neighbors to the north. ![]() ![]()

Are new outer seals available? If so, from whom? Mine are very old and brittle.
