Anyone here own BOTH a coupe and a Targa?

I keep hearing these arguments about what is better...coupe or Targa. I like 'em both! I love my targa for cool days, hearing the 2.2E bark, and cruising at the beach. I love my coupe for its classic styling, silence on the freeways, and stiffness in the twisties.

Let's face it...Porsche made both for a reason! Each has it's good qualities. Here's pics of mine:

'71 911E Targa

'89 Carerra Coupe

I really need to take a picture of both of them side by side! Anybody else with both kinds?

Looks like you're set, early car - late 3.2L car, coupe - targa. Now all you need is a trifecta, blonde, brunette, redhead...

2 coupes: 1 race, 1 street.

Although I recently bought an old targa to chop up into a custom speedster...

Don't I wish!

Really, all this Targa vs. Coupe vs. Cab and SC vs. Carrera blah blah, is all just opinion. Sure, some perform better under certain situations, others are "better" or "more fun" in other situations etc.

I say, they are ALL excellent cars that we are fortunate to own and drive

So, let's DRIVE !!

ONe of each but the coupe is not on the road yet.

Love the targa for the touring. Its still much fun on the track. We will see if the coupe is better. I don't know if that is an accurate comparison though.

Had a 72 Coupe and a 81 Targa for a long time. Loved both of them but the Targa was still nice when the weather was good enough to take the top down.

My 83-year-old grandfather is driving this around these days, loves it, doesn't like the Targa at all.

From to NY and back today, what a perfect day for the top off.

Well, I don't own a Targa but my father has an 88 Targa and I have an 81 Coupe. I can definitely notice the cowl shake over bumps, and the Targa feels much heavier (because it is). You just can't beat driving on a nice day with the top off, and I love the way the flat 6 sounds with the Targa top off. I wouldn’t want to do without either of them.

Yep, got both in the best years too, IMO. The targa is my favorite but I wish I had AC in it for the days when it's too hot to take the top off. Why not take the coupe instead since it has AC? I love the noise from ill-fitting targa top.

I like them both, I like the looks of the coupe but prefer to drive the targa with the top off.
