I'm trying to retrofit cruise control to my 1988 carrera.
I have the control ECU - but it does not look like it fits to the plud that exists in the trunk. I've looked on the PET parts program, and it actually shows two different cruise control setups, and two different brains with different part numbers. Does anyone know if two different types were fitted to the 1988 cars? Also, would anyone who has a 1988 with factory cruise control be willing to read the part number off their curis contriol brain for me (its behind the splash panel at the top of the trunk. Sending a photo with how it is connected would be a huge help as well. thank you, Todd Last |

There's an early and a late cruise control which Porsche used on the 3.2s.
The early one interfaces with a vacuum controlled actuator. The later one uses a motorized servo unit. You can see a picture of the later one at www.systemsc.com on the Products page.

I have the late unit - but it looks like the car was designed for the early unit. Can you tell by the manufacture date which it is supposed to have? My car was made in 6/88

You car should have both late units, i.e. the motorized servo and the module
with the blue connector.

I have an old one from my '84 911 I am willing to sell, diagnostics shows it is still good. I have the vaccum canister out of the engine compartment also. PM me if you are interested.

Your brain connector should be under the radio inside the cockpit.
