Alternator housing strap

I've looked in Wayne's book and searched this forum, but didn't find any thing that shows how to remove the strap around the alternator housing. My fan & housing is polished but the trap is not and in fact looks for crap, so I want to pretty it up. Is this an easy removal?

It is not hard, but is a pain in the asss. You need to remove the distributor and remove it from that side.

In addition to what Kurt said, some lubricating spray helps, too.

some guy a few months ago, did some fantastic masking with garbage bags and tape. he painted the thing right there in the back of the car, it came out sweet looking. same deal, he had a hard time getting it out. i couldnt find it in a search. but he painted it black and it looked great with his silver fan and housing.
