70 and 71 Transmission Question
Hello,
On the 911/01 and 901 transmissions, when re-assembling, you have to reach through a little hole in the bellhousing, rotate the throwout bearing, lever the clutch release fork behind it at the flat sides of the TOB, and then rotate the TOB again, 90 degrees or so. My question is, what keeps that TOB from rotating at some later time, and having the release for pop off of the TOB? Thanks, JA

John,
In addition to the two flats, which allow you to get the fork on the TO bearing, there are two detents that the fork sits in. The finger spring under the pivot keeps the fork in contact with the bearing so it can’t rotate. Try these threads: ’70-’71 clutch clutch cable for 70-71 901 and '70-71 T.O. arm play? Best, Grady
