915.06 transmission hub question
I've got a 915 apparently out of a 74 911 (915.06). On the hubs that connect to the axles are 4 threaded holes for bolts, one unthreaded hole and opposite it on the the hub a single "pin".
The bubs on the axles from my 901 (this is a 69 991E) are excactly the same size and all holes seem to mate up, except there are two "pins". I noticed that pelican sells only one set of axles for 69-73 and I spent some time digging through axles at a local dismantler, where I found only the two pin configuration or 6 bolt with smaller hubs. This leads me to wonder whether that "pin" is removable from the tranny hub. Anyone come across this? Is there a trick, do i need to get a machine shop to drill it out? thanks, arne 69 911E (getting 3.2 transplant) |

Arne,
Yes, the Spiroloc pins are removeable ... generally with hand tools, penetrating lube, etc. As you have found ... rust sometimes makes them stubborn to remove! The '69 - '71 axle and CVs are interchangeable with the '72 - early '75 axles and CVs, as a unit.
