Some Al Reed anodizing work
Just wanted to share some teaser pics of Mr. Reed's handiwork. My tires will be here Monday so I should have some pics with them on the car within a few days.
Clear anodized lip, frosted anodized inner lip and petals with black accents. Beautiful work. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That looks great! Al seems to do a very good job from what I have seen on the BBS. BUT, I must say this, when I bought my car last year the owner had a set of Fuchs done by Al Reed and he had the black center powder coated instead of painted. This was a major no-no. They were to glossy and at the same time they were very roughh with an orange peel like look to them. This is not a cut on Al Reed at all, I am just saying this so if anyone is thinking about have there Fuchs refinished, have the centers painted and not powder coated. That is if you want them to look original. If you are looking for maintenece free, welll then powder coating may be right for you.

Forgot to mention that these wheels were very, very cosmetically challenged before I sent them to Al. I didn't take any before pics becuase I thought they might break my camera

Very nice!
Cant wait to send my fuchs to Al. Seems as if the 15X7's are going to be all the rage. I am considering that finish also. Cant wait to see pictures of them mounted on your car.

Thanks guys!
I'll have the tires tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have some pics then. Honestly, I don't know what they came off of. One pair is from a set of 7/8x15s that I bought from a Houston area Pelican and the other pair is from '70fasty'. I just found another pair that Im awaiting shipment on from a Early S board member. Ive been told the reason the 15x7s are so tough to find is because the track guys buy them all up. That its the biggest wheel that can be run in one of the popular vintage classes. When I sent these to Al Reed I asked for the RSR rough anodized finish like Harvey Weidmen is very well known for perfectly replicating. I've never seen Harvey's wheels in person, but his powdery anodizing looks a whiter in pictures than these wheels turned out. I described the finish the best I could over the phone to Al and I'm very pleased with the work he did. |

That looks good. I like this finish much more than the "mirror" polish. From the pics I can't really distinguish the different anodizing finishes.

Just got them on the car and took a spin around the block. They are going to look real nice once I get the car cleaned up and correct the ride height. Sorry for the crappy pics:

Very good. Does Al Reed do black anodizing of the window frames? Also how are his prices compared to Wheel Enhancement? It is nice to have an alternative.
