Rear Sway Drop Link Bushings
 

Can I just replace the rubber on the rear sway bar drop links? I can't seem to find anything on Pelican. It's an '84 for with a later 21mm sway bar.

No, you need to replace the whole drop link. They're only $35 ea, and take only 10 min. to replace.

Or you can upgrade to these as I did. They are Tarret adjustable rear drop links. The host sells them.

4 Heilm Joints for $130, seems a little outrageous. I'll see if I can locate.

I've paid that much for ONE heim joint used on a formula car upright.

Equivalent no. In this case, if it breaks, no major catastrophe. On the other hand, if this is on an a-arm, you need to be a bit more discriminating...

John, no idea, they didn't come with the drop links, nor were there any directions. Maybe they're a spacer for the bolts that attach them to the bannana arms, although they don't look large enough. When I had my car aligned, the guy advised me to get some spacers so the mono balls were centered in their range of movement.

Those adjustable drop links are designed to connect to the spring plates instead of the trailing arms (as the factory links do). They connect to the toe adjustment on the spring plates, hence the eccentric which replaces the factory toe adjuster. So yes, there are some custom made parts there in addition to the 4 rod ends.

Chuck, any idea why these statements appear on Tarret's web page? Are they marketing the item to be used in a different manner than they were designed?

I don't think these are particularly special heim joints, they look pretty average from the photo. My comments are simply noting that the cost does not seem outlandish for the product, and 'sourcing your own' may not really save you any money (given there are a couple of custom machined parts there also).

Drop links provided with Tarett sway bars can be attached to either the trailing arm or the spring plate. The spring plate is recommended and offers greater range of motion.

I assume their adjustable drop links offer similar attachment choices.

In any event, that is what those eccentrics pictured are for - spring plate attachment.
