What does this connector go to?

In front of the driver's seat, under the carpet in my '88 Carrera coupe, there is a connector that is not connected to anything.

It has a blue wire and a blue wire with a light blue stripe.

Can anyone tell me what this is supposed to go to?

thanks,

Todd

Flux capacitor?;)

Probably power seat wires run in from the factory. Test with a test light and you will know

Nope - not power seat wires. I have power seats and they work fine. The power seat connector is onder the seat and is a four-prong bullet connector.

This is up halfway between the seat and the pedals.

I suppose that it is possible that it is for the heated seats option?

david914 07-24-2004 07:38 PM

I have the same connector. I don't have heated seats, so that may be a possibility.

Interesting that it is only on the driver's side - though.
Do you have cruise control?
I was thinking it might be for the clutch switch.

A connector for the fasten seat belt indicator?

masraum 07-25-2004 12:57 AM

I also had the same thing in my '88. The power seat connector is huge in comparison. My guess was that it was for heated seats, but I never found out either.

I had cruise that worked perfectly, so it probably wasn't that.

My fasten seat belt indicator also worked if I remember correctly, so it probably isn't that either.

If it is on the hump side, I bet it is for the seat belt.

Everything is connected and working on my car, including the cruise and seat belt buzzer, so we can rule those out. I have a pair of 964 full power seats with heat in my SC, and the heat is in the same connector with the motors on those seats.

A quick look through the Bentley wiring diagrams shows a blue/blue-white pair going from the auto heat control unit to the inside temp sensor on the dash. My car has manual heat, so the un-connected wires might reinforce that theory. Anyone else?

Rubatoguy 07-25-2004 08:28 AM

That might make sense as I can not find any temp sensor in either location in the dash as shown in Bentley. However my car does have the Auto-heat control unit between the seats. (little console with the dial on the top that you can set a number on 1-4?)

Did the cars with manual heat also have this control between the seats? (in addition to the two red levers.)

masraum 07-25-2004 08:31 AM

That's probably it. Rubatoguy, nope the dial that goes from 0-4 is for he manual heat. Manual heat has the 2 levers and a fan speed switch that goes from 0-4. Automatic heat has only one knob and that one is numbered from 0-9.
