yes and no

there's also some nasty glue involved
and several years of dirt

it's tricky, could damage the paint in the process of removing

mine needed a respray anyway , if yours if fine, and the welder can do it with the panel in place... go that way... will save you time and money... ask a welder...

Have done some 150 hrs of welding and metal work on the car, which is a -74 now with 3.2 engine and big power assisted brakes. Not a testdrive yet, but brakes are working and now it is time for the interia. Will do original now and during next winter put in the new seats and harness. Dumpers all around will also be changed next winter. Just have to get a drive soon....

Jeez khyden, that's a huge job and a bit too involved for me - well, atleast I wasn't thinking of getting so involved. Droping a 3.2 in sounds like a logical thing to do - you already had most of the car apart :)

Oh and I am not sure about the prostrate cancer, but I already got the frostrate cancer for sure! Part of the reason is that I just got done with another project of mine - 87 VW GTI. Fixed floor rust, painted, got the "period" Recaro seats, about to do a bigger cam, springs, lifters... etc. Next is m E30 M3 that can use new paint although everyone tells me how great it looks, but i can see stuff that they can't :) And so I hoped that my 911 was in good shape and just to keep it from beeing jealous I decided to spray the wheels with a new black paint to freshen it up - and of course I started to poke around... :( Now i got 3 projects!!!!! I better leave my 325IX alone - who knows what I will find there! ( I kinda just got done droping new tranny in it!)

So many of the rust pictures we see on this forum would have been less problomatic if Porsche had used fender liners. The amount of crud that gets tossed up there is scary.
