How to replace rear lid shock?

My rear lid shock is dead. How difficult is it to replace it?

The end attached to the lid does not look too tough, but how do you access the end located in the engine bay? It looks very difficult to get at.

Should I get an HD shock? I do not have a tail.

I just replaced mine, no problem. The back of the shock had a bolt in it that I removed. Took about 5 minutes to change. With the lid up there's no pressure on the shock.

Not sure if you have the same setup but mine was a piece of cake

Call your proctologist. It's not easy to come by but a basic job. There should be a clip and pin on both sides, no bolt. The bolt comes in when people loose the clip and pin.

I'd go with the stock replacement, no HD. If you have a wing, you would have shocks on both sides.

it is cheap and easy to replace, i couldn't believe it.
Make sure the lid stay open and don't loose the clips, one at each end.

you will find yourself using your neck and head to lift the lid to get that last damn pin out. you need to get slack into the strut. it is funny actually. a helper would be less funny.

One of the first projects I did. Don't bother with the HD Shock. Kind of a pain laying on top of the engine to get at the back attaching point but it is not a big deal.

Take off the old one, put on the new one.
