carpet adhesive, blown fuse questions

hi all;

looking for a little help from the list:

1) what's a good adhesive for sticking stock carpeting to the floor? i have some (good used) replacement pieces to lay down....

2) whenever i turn on the fog lamps ('82SC), they go on momentarily and then the fuse blows. i have the factory service manuals; but for the life of me can't find the proper amperage in the wiring schematics. i think the one that blew is 8amps. could it be the relay and is there a way to test the relay with a multimeter? i can't see where/if the wires are shorting.

any help is appreciated. thanks,

mike

Garage
I'd go with the 3M spray-on adhesive - be sure the area is well ventilated.

can't help with #2, but figured 1/2 is better than none...

Carpet glue

If you want something a little stronger to glue the carpet with, use 3M 1300L or 1357. Both are high performance contact cements. You can get either one at Grangers and at some auto supply houses.

Fogs are typically 55 watt...so they would be 8 amp *IF* two are used in the factory circuit ( one for each light). I dont have the schematic in front of me at the moment but if Porsche used one fuse ( for the two lights) then it would be 16A.
What do you mean you "think" it was an 8A that blew? Futzing around with electrics is a dangerous thing unless you have some basic understanding of the electrical issues. 8A is white.........

guys;

thanks for the replies.

the fuse was an 8amp, i tried a 16amp as well (per the service manual). it blew right away; so the problem is a short somewhere.......

Mike, I had the same problem with the fuse blowing right away when I turned on the fog lamps in my 83sc. I unscrewed the wires from the fuse and scrubbed off the corosion from the wires, etc. and that fixed my problem.
