Try Hilton in Gilroy. About 1/2 hour away. We've stayed there sometimes, for the Historics.

When all else fails, there's always the Laural Inn, In Salinas.
Same distance from the track as the hotels in Monterey and none of the Monterey traffic. About half the price of Monterey.... |

Monterey has a fairly sofisticated Hotel Rooming website.
Ther are usaually always some rooms in town but you need to know where to look. There are at least 20 50 room hotels on Munras Ave south of of 101... Bay Park, Casa Munras.... Having worked Major events at Laguna Seca for the past 16 years, hotels have been an importanat part of making the event happen when you're booking 50 -60 rooms.. If you can't find rooms from the web or by phone then try the Laurel Inn in Salinas.... Ask for a room in the back..... |

I tried a Priceline search a couple weeks ago. I offered $150 for any one star hotel in the Monterey, Seaside, Carmel, Marina region. The search found nothing. I might just have to drive the 1.5 hours from the Bay Area.
The problem is I am also attending the Monterey Shootout, an underwater photo competition taking place on the same weekend. Too bad my two hobbies have to clash that weekend. I'll be shuttling between the ocean and the track on Saturday. Good thing they are only 20 minutes apart. I'll need to be in Monterey Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Should be an exhausting weekend. -Brad

Try Days Inn or Super 8. If they don't have anything then they can suggest alternatives amongst their 7 other brands.
