TIA,
Was, I thought just completing a successful installation of the oil fed chain tensioners. Left side done. Right side done, except the not that hold the tensioner on wont torque!!! Obviuosly stripped and I was so damn carefull, but not careful enough . No I am wonder what to do? The bolt will not come off nor tighen. Cut it off w/ dremel? If so, what next , can the stud be replaced ?what does that take? Suggestions, thanks . Earl |

The stud is steel and the case isn't so you should be able to get it out (I've never done this but those are my thoughts).
On a similar note, is there anyway that I can determine if my car had the oil fed tensioners added during the engine rebuild 3 owners ago without dismantling the engine or removing the timing covers?

Thanks for the reply.
It is very easy to tell if you have the oil fed chain tensioners. If there is a solid oil line ruuning into the center of each tensioner cover , you have the oil fed tensioners. These are very visible from looking from above the engine. Don't confuse these with the oil lines that run on top of the chain housing. In fact , you are looking for a line that runs fron these straight down to the center of the chain housing cover. Sorry, I don't have a picture. If you are not sure , take a look at any picture of a tensioner upgrade kit, ( Pelican sells them), it will be very obvious the diffence. One is a rubber hose, anf the other feeds from the this rubber hose and is all metal - the metal is what you are looking for. Thanks again I just had a thought- does any think it possible for me to put another nit on the tensioner bolt and torque this down. Is ther enough clearance?? TIA |

![]() the oil line with the green around it , is the tell tale sign of pressure fed tensioners... same for the right side of the engine

Thanks for the replies.
Got the nut and stud out. WOW! Also have the tensioner in temp place, with of all things a wheel weight - (emergency only, since vise grips and clamps are still in place holding chain nice and tight). I feel confident that this will hold until I get a new stud, nut and washer. Thanks again. Earl |
