rs carpet kit......HELP!

Ok, Got the RS carpet kit from appbiz the other day. I have about 70% of it figured out, I think. Does anyone have pics? A guide? Something? By the way I am doing this in a Targa so if you can help with the back end that would be great too.
Appbiz does recomend a pro. to do this. I'm no pro. Just thick headed.

All the carpet and door panels are now out.

some of the rear pieces overlap each other and need to be trimmed. You can tell which ones overlap because they will have a finished seam on the edge that will be exposed. Did your kit not come with the instructions? I think if you search Rallyjohn you will find the instructions on his website. They are for an early car but you will get the idea.

Hmmm, very unlike Bob. I am at work so I do not have my camera. What pieces are giving you trouble. I could go out and look at mine and see if I can help.

Try this link

http://www.rallystuff.com/pcar_carpet.html
This is the same article that normally comes as the instructions. Some of the rear side pieces are a little different, especially around the seat belt, but this should help.

LMAO! Me too. And no instructions either.

I started in the front with the map pocket pieces, then the sill and followed by the rear quarter pieces. Next, was the rear hump followed by the in-front-of-the-rear-seats and the butterfly shaped piece across the seat back area. Finally, the rear shelf, seat bowls and tranny tunnel. I did not glue down the floor pieces, which lay in last..

Bob tells me that you should leave the carpet in the hot sun before working with it. I didn't do this and have some wrinkles. I used Permetex adhesive which allows you to pull and reposition with a second application of the spray. It took a little more than one spary can.

Be prepared to beat with the palm of your hand, jerk, pull and smooth. It's a pretty physical job.

EDIT: I did not get the separate sill piece that you show. Rather, I got one piece that went from the mpa pockets all the way to the back of the quater windows. Yours looks much easier and puts the quarter pieces ahead of the sills.

perhaps a bit off topic, but how big of a plate do you have on the underside of the roll bar mount? I thought mounting to the floor like that was less desirable, and required a pretty stout backing plate to be effective.

I used the plates that are provided by Auto power. Seem to work fine.

The sill pieces are different depending on the year of the car. I put my carpet in the dryer for a while and that softened it up nicely! I remember it was a little mind numbing getting it all figured out... or was that the glue that did that?!?!

You need to use the carpet you took out as a rough guide to what pieces go where.

I just did mine with appbiz. If you can't figure some of the pieces out take a pic of the ones you are having trouble with and I or someone else here will try to help.

What I did is take each piece of the old and try to match them with the new, then label the piece with masking tape and a marker.

You set, if it is like mine will have two pieces that actually go in the backseat armrest area under the back windows where the front seat belts go into.

There are also two pieces that are for covering the fan motors at the front foot wells.

Take your time and you will see what goes where.

good luck

Troy,
It looks like its right to me. Just take your time. I used spray adhesive and started with the parts that I was sure about and worked my way back.

Piece of cake

Ok the 2 pieces that have been cut and sewn are the pieces that go under the back windows. You removed your interior and there were some panels that either had leather or vinyl or maybe carpet that covered the front seat belt reels.

Okay now I see in the pics that your panels are there. You just have to take them out and fit/glue the pieces to those panels and then cut the carpet where the seat belt goes thru.

The 2 square pieces look like the rear seat backs.
The long piece is different from mine. I got the plush carpet, not the rs, but I think that piece will cover rear speaker deck etc.
