Calling all 2.5 liter owners - how much HP?

Heading to the dyno next week with a new motor. Wanted to hear from others what kind of HP they were getting from their 2.5 liter motors? Thanks.

Not dyno'd, but PO guessed about 150 for 2.5 short stroke with Weber 40's, Solex cams, and SSI's. Not a screamer in this configuration, but fun nonetheless.

Cams and ports of course being the determining factor, but a 2.4E gets 165@6200RPM and that's with a CR of 8.0:1, ported 32in and 32out, and really only a 2.34L displacement.
I would think you'd be in atleast the 180HP range because you should have a higher CR and a slightly more aggressive cam not to mention the larger displacement.

what CR does the motor have? is it the 7.5:1 that BA describes or is it more?

I'm gonna guess right at 200 at the flywheel, maybe a little bit more

Bobby,
Good points, but I was just reciting what the PO thought. He is an experienced car guy and frequent board poster. Tyson has driven the car and we both lamented the fact that it seemed down on power. Carbs were rich and have since been rejetted and other stuff in the works. My engine is definitely not 180 HP, especially when compared to my stock SC and Carrera. Straightaway speeds are down about 10 MPH compared to the Carrera despite getting a MUCH better run off of the turns in my 73 that weighs 2100#.

Let's hope RPM's motor is around 200, because he will most definitely love it. I need to work on mine.........

Well, the factory version made 275hp. But that's with 41mm ports and 906 cams. And of course, an 8,300rpm redline.

Did you go with a long or short stroke 2.5?

Just curious as to your results as I'm going to be building up a short stroke 2.5 (probably closer to 2.6 with the 92mm P&C's)

Regards,
Andrew M
