Body work in SF bay area

I'm looking to get a bare metal respray and rear flares on my '70 911t.

I'd appreciate any suggestions/referals of people I should talk to in the San Francisco area.

Thanks, Mark Scott

Try BodyStyles on Brocaw in San Jose. I had then paint and install my wing. Did a great job. Not cheap, though.

Cars Dawydiak in San Francisco is the best. All you need to do is take a walk around in their shop to see the types of cars they work on to understand...

http://www.carsauto.com/

No affiliation, but this is where I get all of my service done, and they are fantastic.

Good luck,

Dean

Here's an update for anyone interested.

1. Dell is basically retired. I talked to him a day or so before my original posting. I was hoping he would be interested, but having seen his personal cars that he still needs to restore, it's easy to understand why he's not taking on any new large jobs.

2. Columbus Auto will not do a full respray, but they put me in touch with Mike Giannini of Giannini's Auto Body over in Protrero Hill, who I think I'm going to use - so far.

3. Vlado's/ Dawydaik are not for people who live with my financial reality. I've talked with them both before and I'm not going to bother this time around. Basically they will want double what I paid for the car just to paint it.

4. Whitmans in San Rafael was in the 14k range also - too steep.

So, I'm looking at around 7k so far but I'm going to continue to look. If anyone knows people I might talk to in the east bay, please let me know.

Thanks, Mark

On a related note...

I've got a '91 C2 Cabriolet, my new old car, that needs to go in for its 120K service in San Francisco or just south of there (~Millbrae-SF). I see one recommendation for Dawy Diak. Does anyone else have recommendations or comments as to:

- shops you like/trust
- how much this service should cost
- what I should ask them to look at when I take it in

Mark--
I've heard good things about Cook's Collision. They have shops in both Walnut Creek (North Main near Stead Porsche) and Berkeley (on Ashby near Claremont).

No first hand experience, but would be interested in what you find out, as I've been thinking about a respray on my '85 Targa.

Try The Stable in SF, quite close to Dawydiak (sp) actually, I took my car there once and the work and price were okay, he doesn't seem like a gouger. Haven't been back but that's 'cause I'm doing my own work now. No idea what a service costs for a C2.

steve, cook's is horrid. they did additional damage to a friends car after the respray. they made good, but the additional time and effort was wasted.

i would PM bob tilton. he had a respray and his car is damn nice. cant remember the name of the shop.

Yeaman Auto Body is pretty good and reasonably priced. Scott Yeaman is also somewhat of a flare installation expert. I had my rear quarter panel fixed up by him about 1-2 months ago.

Contact my friend Ron, he has been painting cars / show cars for over 20 years.

You can talk to him and see if this is something he can do or what he can do and possibly give you a estimate.

Located in Fremont, Ca.
