Tail Issues on '88 Cab
I have a very poor aftermarket tail on my '88 Cab and I am looking for direction and input. The body and paint are in excellent condition except for the tail.
1. Should I replace it with an OEM tail? 2. Should I remove it permanently and repair the lid? 3. Should I replace the lid and the tail? Any input you have is appreciated. The car is Venetian Blue. Thanks! |
I'd vote for #2 - I like the tailess look on the cabs...

Where are the pics? ;)

I second Jeremy....I am tailless on my CAB for that reason too.

Permission to speak freely?
OK... May I just say that I was drooling over a beautiful (tailless) 83 SC guard's red cab in at my mechanic's shop last week... and: CABS ARE FRIGGIN' DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS!!! Back to normal mode ;) -MAS |

I'm semi-tailess with my Cab. It has a faux 964 tail on it to give the backside a little more dimension.

http://www.a1-staffing.com/birds-eye_small.jpg Look! It's the Doublemint twins!!!! Or is this a Coors Light commercial? All the 911s look good sans rear spoiler. I think it makes them look smoother. The big whale tail kinda disrupts the lines. Ducktails aren't too bad though. |
Jeremy NICE COLOR! :-)
Is your interior blue or black? Roof blue?

Ferrariguyma - nice car! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1091815455.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1091819632.jpg Looking for that file in my computer makes me wonder how Jack O has his picture files cataloged. You have to figure he has (Side view, back light, track stickers, grey gravel // Side view, back light, track stickers, brown gravel // Side view, back light, track stickers, black top // |
Here is a picture of my '88 with a POS (piece of s***) tail.
Anyone ever replaced or removed a tail? Good or bad experience? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1091827683.jpg |
You'll need a new rear decklid because when you remove the tail base there will be lot's of mounting holes. You could always get the holes filled and then repaint the decklid. Otherwise, you can get another decklid and be able to go between the two depending on your mood. The decklid installation is a piece of cake... the only time consuming part is aligning it.

Do what Jack(ie) O does....two decklids. Spruce up the tailed one and repaint a neked one.
