Custom exhaust opinions wanted

The car is a 73 with a 3.2 upgraded to 3.4 with SS1's and a stock single exit muffler. It's used for racing and there are decibel limits, but not enforced unless the car is obnoxiously loud. I'm looking for something between a megaphone and a louder dual exit muffler. Something that is sort of loud when cruising, and screams at 7k.
I tried running it with the muffler off the car, and it sounds awesome and revs like an indy car, but is just a bit too much. Plus it echoed for a while in the neighborhood, and people came out of their houses to see what was going on.

What I was thinking of was to have a local exhaust shop build me something and I'm looking for opinions on this design.

edit- stick drawing gets distorted when posted

90 bend from SS1 towards center of car into 45-90 bend up into X pipe into 45-90 bend towards sides of car and angled to exit through openings in valence

don't know if the x pipes angle out or straight up.

I need to retain heat for the car, so no headers. Also thinking that this still might be a bit loud, so maybe a glass pack between the X pipe and the tip.

Your design has been executed before. No matter what you do, it will still be very, very loud. The consensus around here is a dual in, dual out Flowmaster (or equivalent) with no X pipe configuration. The muffler is the X, so to speak. Not quite the same smooth sound as a true x or siamese pipe, but it will give you the little bit of backpressure you need and some peace of mind for the neighbors and the track meter.

I don't know what angle the X pipes exit at, so the attaching bends could be anywhere from 45-90 degrees.

from the SS1 exit, 90 bend towards center of car, 45-90 bend into X pipe placed vertically, 45-90 bend towards sides of car and pipe angled to exit out openings in rear valence

I want the car to be loud, just not "call the cops right now" loud.

What model of flowmaster do people use or does any dual in dual out model work?

how about SSI's to a large edelbrock or flowmaster, two in, two out? we had a regular banana muffler modified for two in two out and its nice and loud but quiet when you want it to be, and it looks stock.

I would recommend Coast mufflers

They do a great job of muffling this thing
