Seatbelt install ???

Has anyone else had trouble threading the seatbelt anchors through the back side panel? The old seatbelts went right through but they no longer had the plastic covering on the top anchor. The plastic on the new ones is too thick to go through the plastic trim piece on the back panel.

I searched the archives and didn't even see this mentioned!! Everybody talks like this is such a snap, which it would be if I could get the anchor through.

Am I missing something obvious?

You are asking how to pass the front seat belt through the rear panel from where the tensioner is bolted to the frame, correct? It should be fairly straightforward. It is easier if you remove the plastic trim piece surrounding the opening and thread the belt through that separately after you have bolted up the tensioner and passed the belt through panel. Once it's through both the panel and the plastic piece, simply slide the plastic back down into the panel.

Thanks for the reply. The problem though, is that the upper D-ring anchor is encased in plastic on the new seatbelt where on the old one it is metal with plastic just covering the bolt. The new one is too thick to pass through the plastic oval even with it unscrewed from the panel.

I just called PEP and it sounds like the newer cars have a split in the oval trim piece so I will just do the same to this one and that should take care of it.

So you have seatbelts from a Carerra or newer? Are you certain that they will work with your SC receptacles? I was under the impression that there was some change in the design of the seat belts after the SC. However, I could be wrong and it may have been after the 964 or 993.
