Another RS project. Mine part 2
 

Well, I just got my car from the bodyshop yesterday and im in the process of putting back together. I have mastered the rattle can. I think. I have been painting all those little parts that I did not powdercoat with a rattle can. I discovered that it is all in the prep. I did sandlast alot of the parts but did not have to do them all. A little sanding with different grades of sandpaper did the job on the little stuff. Anyway, its getting there. I never planned on doing a groung up restoration, but thats the way it goes. You take off one thing , then you dont think that the surounding peices will look good with the undesturbed peice left alone. It is a 30 years plus car so peices get dirty or get suface rust on them. BTW its a track car not concourse so the paint is not perfect but passable. Next is to rewire the car. I carefully labeled everything and covered it all with a trash bag. Luckily I have a couple of days off.

What is the paint code for that? (your car specifically) It looks an awful lot like Gelb Green.

Gelb green is yellower (hence the name). That sure looks like viper green to me.

nice paint. how have the wheels been finished? is that the rough anodised treatment?

Thanks guys! Its been a loooong project. Its nice to see it come together at this stage. Well, I finished rewiring the car and I also finished installing all the gages as well as the dash. I got rid of the crappy carbon look that I put in a while back. Too ricey for an early car. I cant begin to amagine the crap I would have gotten on the board!

Anyway, I painted all the gages, ashtray, dash, and any sourounding trim pieces that needed it.

When putting back the wiring harness, Tyson suggested cleaning The wires with rubbing alchohol to get all the 30 plus years of dirt and oil off. Worked like a charm!

The gas tank was degreased with castrol(purple bottle) degreaser(about 4 times), Then wipped with a wet cloth. Then I painted the bottom black and the top grey with rustoleum paint. BTW i also used some por15 along the edges for some surface rust that I had. It came out awsome. I am proud of that one.

I am also proud of the way the dash came out. Pretty close to concourse for a race car.

Tommorrow! Who knows? I have lots of little things to do. I have to say that I will never do it again. As much as I enjoy it, it seems to consume too much of my day. Yes the car is viper green. The color code on the car is 225. It may be my camera in the garage the makes it look wierd.

Very nice work. Thats going to be a great car. Any details on the oil light thats in place of the clock? Ive been thinking of using that space for some kind of dummy light telling me to shut the car off if something catastrophic like a broken fan belt or loss of oil pressure ever happens.
