Any Pelican folks in Evansville IN?
Or greater IN? I just accepted a position in that area and would like to find out about any local Porsche events, DE, autocross, etc.
Thanks, James

When are you moving? If it is before Sept. 11, be sure to sign up for the Gruppe B Benefit Car show in Warsaw, IN!

Hi James
I'm in Evansville @ Whirlpool. Where are you going to be working? There is a local PCA region but it is currently inactive - there may be changes coming to reconcile that situation. There are a lot of Porsches in the area, Buxton Motorsports sells a lot of cars here, but the local Dealer is not well regarded. There are two independent shops in the area that are well regarded. I restored my '73 911 mostly myself and one of my coworkers has a 453 HP '79 Turbo (at the rear wheels) so there are some techies here. I'm in the local phone book - give me a call when you are in town. Jim Dasher |

Thanks Jim, I will be at American General Finance. Don't have a clue where I am living yet. Glad to hear there are some local Porsche guys, other than Indy, what are the local tracks?
Thanks James

The local SCCA has an active autocross schedule. You'll be 3 hours from the tracks @ Indy, a little less than 3 hours from St. Louis and I believe their PCA chapter has some racing at the track over there. Nashville is a little less than 3 hours away and I understand there is an autocross every weekend at the Nashville Speedway.

hey easy there Noah!
Thanks Jim and Kurt, I am looking forward to having a little more time behind the wheel. Being here in NYC, I totally finished my last 911 (which Tyson now owns) and only drove it about 4,000 miles over 3 years! So being central to everything will give me chance to do some good road trips. --James

you can't out a Marine buddy. We are too proud. My 72 year old Father still talks to his pals he served with and it takes them back to when they were in their early 20's just reliving the stories. Now more than ever, I think we all should be thankful for those that serve, in any branch. Especially those guys who were on reserve duty and have been deployed for more than a year.
-James p.s. Noah, I will square up with you next time we get to drink a few beers and talk Army/Marine Corps, etc. Cool 911 by the way, I didnt get to tell you that.

James, you won't be all that far from Mid-Ohio. It's a fun track. I think there are a number of other tracks within a six hour drive. Enjoy!

cool! Tyson and I plan to run some of these middle of the US tracks since he has run most west coast tracks. With a 3.6 in Scruffy, it should be fun!

Putnam Park is southwest of Indy. A bit of a drive from E'ville but worth the effort.
I drive through (around) Evansville on my trips to and from IL to AL. A high shcool buddy of mine lives in Haubstadt, just north of E'ville. Nice community with a lot of twisty rural roads. The wife and I are planning a Porsche weekend there sometime in the late fall. Maybe meet up with a few southern Indy / northern KY folks. Post your observations when you get settled.
