reman half shafts??

Hey out there,

Anybody use remans half shafts before?? I have heard they are no good and to only buy new! WHats everybodys experience with them. I suppose I should just take mine apart and find the bad one but how much time do I really want to spend to save a little money!!

I bought a pair about 8 years ago for my SC and they're still going strong. As a matter of fact, I just replaced one of the boots recently as it was torn. Other than the occasional grease re-pack, zero maintenance. No problems here.

Cool

This is where I get on my rant about rebuilders. Our local front wheel drive specialist is a Rockford dealer. He stocks replacement parts for Porsches, Mb's and such.

If I dont want to mess with them, I just drop them off with him. He does the diagnostics calls me and tells me what's up. He's cheap too. If I'm feeling super cheap, he sells me the parts, explains what I should be looking for and then rebands them for me.

I'd check around in the yellow pages for your local front wheel drive specialist. Chances are he's seen a Porsche half shaft.

BTW, Porsche doesn't have the corner on the Lobro CV joints. They can be had much cheaper from other suppliers.

Thanks,
David Duffield

Shop that did synchros said the CV joints needed replacement.
