The problem is that when you get up close, it looks like.... powdercoat. You will see the heavy clear film over the pigment.

Yes, this is my car.
All of the panels (doors, hood, deck lid, etc.) have also been powder painted. The car was/is straight, so no major bodywork. I had the car chemically dipped (about the only way to get the undercoating off of a late model car) and then allowed it to sit for several months to allow the chemicals to drain/dry to prevent future leeching. Additionally, the car was media blasted just prior to being powder painted to take care of any flash rust. The exterior surfaces will be painted (color matched to the powder), in addition to the bumper covers and rocker panels (can’t powder paint non-metal parts). |

What kind/quality of finish did you end up with?
I've never seen anything that big powder-painted and I'm curious. Thanks. |

Jeeze that is a big oven. Imagine how large of a cake you could bake!
Wayne (Girl friend says the car looks like lemon pound cake to her. What does the mean?)

Hmm, bad idea IMHO for a number of reasons, mainly the thickness it adds and the way it distorts everything. I mean, people have a tough time assembling a motorcycle with a powdercoated frame, couldn't imagine a car. Then there's also the issue with repairing any damage to the finish down the road. It's innovative and original, I'll give you that
