Hi,
I wanted to know what the prices are about for the 993 C2S. There's one here (97) for sale that's beautiful, but the price is too high in my mind. I wanted to see what recent prices have been for the 993 C2S and C4S. I'd love one, but I'd have to sell both cars to get a good down payment on one ![]()

I haven't been watching the CDN prices lately, but US cars in US$ range from high $30s for a 'high mile, has needs, not popular color, corner car lot' kind of car, to $60k for a 'very low mile, needs nothing, desirable color, duPont Registry' kind of car.
IMO, the 4S cars are usually quite close in price for a similar condition car. The 4S seems to fetch a little more than the 2S in the northern states, and about even in the southern states.... which makes sense considering where the 4wd would be more useful. Any details on the one you looked at?? It would help me narrow down the price range a little. You'd probably want a Corolla beater for those Calgary weather changes that can bring winter at a moments notice ![]() max

I looked at a '97 c2s in silver with 12K miles about 8 months ago.
The owner was VERY proud of it...and should be. It is an insane car. However, I opted for the '87 g50 in White with 50K miles. Price was a determining factor for me...he was asking 62 for the car. It was nice but I had just sold my '00 c4 Cab and wasn't wanting to get back into that kinda' cash committment. If I had to make a choice on THE car I want...it would be a '97 c2s.. Phattey..

The Carrera S had a base price of about $62K brand new if I recall, maybe a little more. The new price was the same as the regular Carrera.
That said, these cars probably hold a record for holding their value. With low miles examples fetching mid $60's, it is truly incredible. If you must have a wide car go for it. |

I would check out the most recent Luxury AutoTrader...I think there are a few in there in the Toronto area. Buyer beware....the prices do seem a little low. You would definitely want a thorough PPI done on the car.

Thanks to all who responded. Wow Max thoses prices are all over. This one is a 1997 C2S (Silver) with 90000Km (54000 miles), sport seats, engine sound, 6 CD, looks in great shape. He wants $69900 ($54500 USD)
Seems pretty high to me, but the owner said he got it appraised at $70K, and he could be flexible on the price. He said he's in no hurry to sell and wanted to see how much interest he would get on it. I mean for that kind of money I could get a 2002 M5, or a 2004 M3, or even a 2000 C2. It's just so rare to see one around here (I've only seen 2 C4S') it got me all giddy. I guess I'll just keep buying thoses lotto tickets...

I agree that his asking price is on the high side considering the mileage... based on what they go for in the US. The Canadian market may be a little stronger?? As for the appraisal- those guys will usually write down whatever number you want them to, so long as you pay their fee ![]() re: giddy yes, i still get that way when i walk up to mine to go for a blast. ![]() max

Bob, that is a reasonable price, even with the average mileage. There are many 1995-1996 ***narrow body*** 993s in Canada selling for $60K+. Ask me how I know.
![]() That car would probably go for mid-40s in the US. Add 60% to cover exchange rate, duty, and all taxes, and you end up at $72K CDN. Lance |

Here is the breakdown in this months Porsche Market Letter for C2s and C4s models for sale:
`96 C4s, 34kmi. $43k `96 C4s, 39kmi. $46k `96 C4s, 24kmi. $46.9k `96 C4s, 48kmi. $49.9k `96 C4s, 23kmi. $51k `96 C4s, 34kmi. $57k `97 C4s, 91kmi. $40k `97 C4s, 51kmi. $41.5k `97 C2s, 33kmi. $47k `97 C4s, 54kmi. $47k `97 C2s, 32kmi. $47k `97 C4s, 33kmi. $53k `98 C4s, 12kmi. $58.5k `98 C2s, 22kmi. $59.9k `98 C2s, 22kmi. $62.5k You could probably find an excellent example for under $50k, it just might take a while, and you might have to look at several cars. Also, it would seem that the 2s is harder to find. I wouldn't be surprized if it starts commanding a nice premium over the 4s. That said, I think it is one of the pinnacles of the 911 design, both in function and form. A C2s is definitely in my future. ![]() Last edited by Eric Coffey; 08-24-2004 at 10:45 PM.. |
