Happy B-day = 130 on my first P-Car ride

My late wife surprised me on my 30th birthday at work with an invite to lunch. As we walked to the restaurant, I saw a beautiful silver 993 cab parked in front of the office. As we walked bye a guy with a clip board stepped up and handed me the keys.....I could not speak for 5 minutes! Of course I stalled it on the 1st U-turn.

Turns out she had rented me the car for 24 hours.

That afternoon, I gave all my buddies a chance to drive the car. The and the following day we headed north of the city to drive my favourite twisties. We let her rip with the top down on a straight stretch and got her up to 230KPH. It was quite an experience.

I could not believe the acceleration and the noise was like having a freight train in the back seat.

I guess it left a lasting impression because 5 1/2 years later I bought myself an 81'SC shortly after she passed away and I've never looked back. Great distraction and the pride of ownership is hard for others to understand.

Fastest in the SC so far is 115MPH.....just have not found the right location or circumstance. I think I'll wait for a track day to go any faster.

What a wonderful gift! I'm so sorry for your loss. However, it is nice that she gave you a gift that you can share with so many others. Porsche ownership has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life. I hope it blesses you in the same way.

twobone,
I'm so sorry for your loss, you wife sounds truly sepcial and I'm sure you miss her. Great wives seem to understand their husband's "Porsche problem", at least mine does. I don't know what I would do without my "better half"! Take care!
