Funny Story...

My 77 911 costs $900 Canadian per year, fire, theft, collision, unlimited use to and from work. My 87 944 is $1800 per year with the same coverage except to and from work... go figure.

I'm about $800 / year, full coverage - practially worthless if I total the car, I'd get killed on value.

For dents and damage it's great. 34 Y/O $500 ded.

Through GEICO and it's reported as my driver - incidentally it's cheaper listing the 911 in 1st use position VS. the 2002 S-10 I have. go figure.

way to much from State Farm

Well...

I pay about $580 / 6months for my '81 911 with full coverage, daily driver with no limits and $1000 deductible. All this from State Farm.

I thought it was little high so I called them up and found why... From what I understand, they have a standard "Rating" system for cars and my Porsche is apparently rated at a "52" ???.... the higher the number the more you pay. Average car rates at about "8" and my previous BMW 325s rated an "11".

On top of all this, I just realized that I'm getting nailed for an additional $35 / month over 3months for "Policy Change". Yep, when I take the car off the road for the winter I get nailed with the "Policy Change" charge and again in the spring when I put it back on. Its still the same policy since I continue the coverage throughout the winter for thief and fire.

I don't get it. How much more money are they going to squeeze out of me. I think its time for me to shop around.

Any other Canadians have suggestions on who might be the better company to insure with?

I pay about $600/6 months for full coverage on all 3 Porsches. My coverage actually went down from what I paid for the 911 and the '66 Rolls-Royce, despite the fact the check they gave me for the RR paid for the 944 and 928 - same value. This is with the 944 claimed as the commuter, but it doesn't seem to make a difference which Porsche I claim it is.

$340 per 12 mos. Pleasure vehicle, full coverage, $250 deductible, $12,500 agreed value (more than I bought it for), 5k miles per year, ok to drive it to work. The policy is currently through Allied. I'm pretty happy with my current insurance agent, she is always shopping for a better deal for me.

2 drivers at home. Pcar is a 3rd car. State Farm Insurance. 900 a year for 7500 miles limit with 500K/250K liability/medical. and 1K deductible for collision and I think 500 for comprehensive. Kind of high but I only drive the car about 5-6K a year and I needed to bump the liability higher so that my 1 Million dollar liability umbrella policy can cover the car.

I pay about $600 through Allstate with $1M/$500K/$200K coverage for pleasure driving. I looked into the collector car companies and it didnt make sense with the restrictions they have. I also wanted larger coverage amounts as many cars now cost over $100k and if anything ever did happen.....

$640 for 6 months. $300 deductable. Full use car. And this is WITH the 40% Roadstar discount. Yeah, insurance in BC sucks. Oh yeah, and this is considered EXTREMELY cheap here. My buddy has a 2003 RSX type S and he pays $2200. He also has the 40% discount.
