Failed SMOG...EGR troubleshooting
So I just failed smog in california...surprise. The numbers came out fine the smog tech said that when he hooked up a hand pump to check the functionality of the EGR valve the idle didnt drop. So I have read a few posts and as I understand it there could be a few problems with cloging of the lines or the actual valve is stuck. In addition I also understand that the ERG valve is in the back of the engine which makes it a royal pain to work on. So I was wondering how do I go about troubleshooting this. Step by step and pictures would be really awesome. Also if I need to get an ERG valve where would I source that part? Anyway I really appreciate the help trying to defeat "the man" ie california emissions board.

So I have taken the valve kind of off. I wasnt able to get the valve output to the intake unscrewed. Any tips? Also I have found that the intake from the exhaust to the valve is compeletly pluged with junk. I was wondering what I should do? Should I just dig out the gunk or is there some other step that I should take? I assume that the valve is also pretty stuck so I will need to replace that.
