a $10 repro version of this would be nice....
$300 Al oil cap for 906, etc. .... |
What nobody's excited about a fancy oil cap?
|
interesting price on a tractor fuel cap! that's what they were off of . They come in various sizes back in Germany
|
I believe that is the same story with the 911 R tail lights too.
|
learn somethin' new everyday... thanks guys, pretty funny but no wonder why we describe the 915 as being agricultural in feel.
|
I used to have a cap like that on an old BMW motorcycle.
I would think that they have to be worth more than $10..... $15 or $20 at least. ;) |
They're also the same as early VW bugs and busses. I'll bet if I tried, I could find one in my parts stash.
|
The aluminium ones are rare and no longer made.
But I think you can still buy them in steel from the original manufacturer in Germany. My guess is that trucks and tractors used the steel version while the aluminium cap was used on motorcycles and cars. |
Somebody could just take the "working parts" and stamp the Al top part out with the crimps and all.... Could even be done for a small run by just hammering on a steel form made to do the crimps, etc....
