EGR: Exhaust Gas Recirculation

Charlie,

I was told Auto Euro did the following to a 993 I am researching for purchase. The following is a cut and paste:

"On the invoice, they replaced the battery, power steering rack and boots, R&R engine and tranmission, seal engine, replaced piston rings, perform valve job, replace guides, replace hydraulic valve tappets, replace clutch kit, replace distributor cap and rotors. Total invoice was $12,761.16

On another invoice, they cleaned out EGR air passages, MVI, replaced ABS hydraulic pump, replaced reservoir, flushed system, replaced front hood shocks, replaced rear lid shocks and replaced windshield wiper blades. Total invoice was $1276.15."

Hopes this helps, although it didn't help me much..... LOL. But then I'm somewhat of a dumba$$

Too much college and not enough smarts.

Joe,
Funny coincidence that the 2nd receipt is exactly 10% of the first....

azasadny,

That really doesn't seem funny at all does it? Wonder wazzup there? The owner is supposed to fax me the invoices. I want to see them especially now. Thanks for being so observant. Damn.

Good God, 1 12K invoice!

On one 911c2 I looked at, I was stunned by the things a person would have the dealer do... for instance, replace battery in lighted key fob, .75 hour labor for $54!

I also think it's odd to condense 12K worth of work into one line. People need to see details, I would think!

david,

This was a synopsis of the items supposedly on the invoices. They tried to fax me the invoices but when I got home from work and received the email I found my fax machine was unplugged

I will post more information when I actually see the invoices.

Oh... whoops.

The C2 I looked at had one 6K invoice, for approx. 30 small issues, like lights not working to, like yours sagging shocks. Sometimes it's easy to get shocked by these, but many times people lack the resources (or have more money than time) to fix the simple things, and they artificially pile up and make a big stink. Good luck, I hope that's all it is.

most of the time mvi is motor vehicle inspection
egr passage is where the egr recircs the exhaust back into the intake and allot of times it gets carbon build up and can cause the valve to hang open so you clean it out.

hope this helps

ssetek,
Thanks, that certainly does help with deciphering the message.
