Replacing stock exhaust...

OK, quick question. My 80 SC has SSIs and a Dansk 2 in/2 out right now, and the volume is just a bit too much. I got the entire stock exhaust intact, with the original oil lines as part of the purchase. I'm thinking of replacing the stock exhaust for two reasons...see what the stock volume was like, and give me some time to plan a new exhaust without annoying the neighbors.

Now, my question is...do I need to put the stock oil lines back on with the stock exhaust, or will the backdated lines work with it? I'd love to be able to move back and forth between the stocker equipment and the SSIs, but if I have to drain the oil and change those lines every time, I probably won't bother...

Obviously, I did not do the SSI conversion myself, the PO did, so I don't have a clear idea of where the oil lines route, and I haven't climbed under the car yet to check this out myself.

And, in classic form, I posted before searching...

I found a single VERY old thread discussing this, where it seems (but was not definitely stated) that the stock exhaust needs the stock oil lines, and the backdated lines will not work.

Unless someone has managed to make the backdated lines work with the stock system, and would like to chime in, I'll consider this thread closed.

Garage
you could just cap one side of the dansk which will help with the volume/droning

I'd consider capping one side, but I haven't found any info on a cap that can be purchased. I don't have access to equipment to make one...

You don't need anything fancy. An old can painted black would work. Will probably cut the volume by at least 50%.

Well...an old can chromed, since I have the SS exhaust

I was trying to stay away from the "old can bolted to the exhaust" look if possible. My ideal situation is to find someone to trade my 2/2 for their 2/1 straight across...hint hint, nudge nudge...
