Best $80 I ever spent AND best customer service - Pelican

After years of guessing the accurate temperature of my oil I broke down and ordered the "back date" oil temp gauge kit. Upon receipt a few days later, I opened up the package to discover the gauge face was bent. There was no packing material in the box to prevent that sort of thing. I carefully bent the face back. Looked OK and probably no mechanical damage. I had to go out of town for a few days so I couldn't test the kit.
I e-mailed Pelican to inform them of the incedent, not for a refund, just a heads up on the packaging issue. The next day I get a reply from Travis of Pelican. He tells me if I can get the part back in a month or so they will replace it. COOL!
Well I got the package installed today. Real challenge. Took maybe 15 minutes. Jumped in the car and went for a drive. I will never wonder about temps again. The gauge is perfectly clear with a nice distance between 180 and 210 - my "safe" zone for normal driving. I had etched marks in the "no numbers" gauge and the results match perfectly. On hot days on boost it would always creep to 9:00, ~210. I don't like ~ anything! Now I know for sure!
