Hmmmmm,
How much is a set of Fikses (17 x 8 x 9.5)? It is a slippery slope! |
I think its around 2500-2600 for set of 4 Fikse's in that size at Wheel Enhancement.
|
How much are the Lindsey wheels? Would it be economical to have them make 16x9s out of two 16x6es?
|
9s are easy to find, 8s are not, ive been looking for awhile. 8x16 only came on a few years and are much rarer. (aside from the 951 8s)
|
Why does no one seem to run 8's all the way around? ST's ran equal rims, correct and they are a great looking car to me. I've asked this before, but never an answer. Why not 951's on front and 911's on rear, or 951's (8's) all the way around on a narrow?

wider in the rear helps tame oversteer if I'm not mistaken...
|
over/under steer is a dymamic property. A/Xers will want it at their relatively low speeds. For DE at higher speed it is desireable only in very small doses if at all.
|
I guess I was thinking about 8 & 8 on a narrow body non SC flared car. Still thinking through options before getting out the plasma and letting the quarters fall to the ground. I as most love the RS look, but my early car is solid.
|
Due to fitment issues, I haven't seen 8s on a narrow-bodied car yet, especially Fuchs. If you have, let us know.
The widest I've seen are 15x7 standard or R wheels. Sherwood |
I'm pretty sure Ingo had 8s on his narrow car. Lot's of negative camber, and a tight fit.

Both Ingo and David Dorion have done it. Here's David's thread. |
Luke:
Following your line of (sound) reasoning...I'm running the unusual combo of 7" front ( original rears) on 205/55-16...and 7" rears on 225/50/16, as they came from the factory for rears. I find this gives my car with stock TB's fine high-speed balance. The stock 6 front / 7 rear under these conditions, with limited slip, and especially on tight corners...was a terrible under-steerer ( required a change in "tactics" of power application to tame properly for low speed turns). If I put 7" in front, this gave better sidewall support and increased my track in the front...all to cut into excessive understeer. Putting 8 or 9 in the rear...after I put 7 in the front...would likely get me back to the original 6/7 problems that I had. Again...not an insurmountable problem if you go to alternate TB sizes or adjustable sways...but there you are. Upshot? 951 pattern 8" in the front with either pattern 8" in the rear will likely accomplich the same thing....but you'd be operating at a better-capable point than my 7/7. another viewpoint...... - - Wil |
What are these?
What do you think these are, just bought the car? 7's, 8's?

Those look like 7's in the rear, So 6's and 7's is what you would have. If you look at an 8 or 9 x 16 they have a deeper taper to them. The 6's don't taper in at all from the lip. :) |
here is 8's in the back
|
Nostatic, You are correct about about that slope, I'm slipping fast.
After this and all 59 other threads I've read, I think I will go with Fikse 8 x 17 and 9.5 x 17. I called W-Enhancement today and new Fuch 9 x 16's are $ 825.00. Ouch! Then I called Greg Fordahl and he convinced me to go with Fikse's for around $2600.00. For all the reasons mentioned on this board and Greg's advice. Now I have have to decide which ones. Hmmmmm, FM5's with black centers or all black? My SC is metalic black. Any fresh pictures out there with black on black? Dave |
I endup up going w/ 7's & 8's. Part of the reason was that allowed me to swap my (virtually new) existing tires (205 & 225 off my 6's & 7's) & save some money that way.
As a result I have a set of 7's & 9's that are gathering dust. |
That seems like a good price...I thought Fikses were more expensive. You going 17s? I'd go with the Mach V in either race black or race satin.

Hmmmm, The Mach V's look really good too! Nostatic you have good taste. Black centers or all black?
