Here's another one of the prototype 935 ... can't remember where I found this one (wish it was larger).
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1093808395.jpg I have some others from the Starkey book that I'll scan and post. |

John, the silver Martini is one of the 4(?) Turbo RSR, but not a 934. The 934 had the riveted-on flares and as per the rules a 3.0 Turbo rear wing.

After doing a little research, the 935 is chassis #002 and was run with the stock fenders after finding the more familiar flat nose generated too much downforce. Another photo:

George K -- you're right. The 934 was completely different then a Turbo RSR. I didn't notice the number "934" in the quote I clipped until you just flagged it.

These are some of the first press photos of the 935 ...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1093810719.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1093810750.jpg Here's one of the first photos with testing of the slant nose. They were also testing the '74 Turbo RSR tail on it as well. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1093810869.jpg Rear shot of the 935 prototype showing the Carrera RSR type rear fenders. My guess is that the 911 type fenders are on the front. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1093810951.jpg Here's an interesting press shot of the '74 Turbo RSR doing a burnout ... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1093811141.jpg Late in '76 and into '77 they decided to stick with the slant nose as well as change the rear fenders with a more squared off top for larger rear ducts and more aerodynamic downforce. |
Nice photos!

Besides the silver color for the '74-5 Turbo RSR and the white color for the '76 935 prototype, the Turbo RSR had radically reworked C-pillars/rear window for better airflow to the rear wing.
A couple 935s experimented with the reworked C-pillars/rear window in '77. Actually a 2nd window channel panel mounted to the factory C-pillars and roof. After it proved successful, it became standard on 935/78 (Moby Dick) and the Kremers from then on out. |
More, more, I want more. What are you guys dealers. A little for free at first, and then once you're hooked it costs??

Here's another one to give you a little fix ...
Pretty cool shot - John Fitzpatrick in a '77 K2 at the Nurburgring "Flug Platz" http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1093871939.jpg |
I guess what bothers me the most is that we have the luxury of looking back 20-30 years and feel the "connection" with the company by virtue of its racing products....
20 -30 years from now, what are we going to say?....." Yeah, the Weideking era......here is a pictoral of the bags of the money they made then....products?...well....ummm......" We're truly "resting on our laurels"....there is no racing heritage that we're continuing for posterity.... --- Wil |
At least we'll have the GT3R's and their brothers. Hopefully the CGT will find it's way into some sort of racing.
