Gasoline Leaks
The recent spate of leaking gasoline lines (including mine) got me thinking that it may be a good idea to have an excess flow valve (one that stops the flow if it gets too high) intalled on the discharge of the fuel pump before the line enters the engine compartment.
Has anyone ever installed one? Is this a dumb idea? I know for many of the hazardous chemicals and gases stored in bulk, the companies are required to install such devices. They are readily available. Here is one offered by the Hoke Division of Swagelok - http://www.hoke.com/products/instcomp/xvh.pdf. I would think the 8 mm unit for medium flow might fit our needs.

Harry,
I just replaced every fuel line and clamp on my '74 to get rid of stubborn fuel leaks. I did a "partial engine drop", ordered all of my lines from PP, clamps from McMaster-Carr and every leak is now gone! I also replaced all vacuum hoses and clamps as well and I recommend this method to get rid of fuel leaks. Some of the fuel lines looked fine, but had small cracks and were a disaster waiting to happen. Good luck!

Art,
Did you replace all of the nylon lines or just the rubber ones?

Harry,
My nylon lines were in great shape, so I left them alone. There's a recent thread here somewhere about replacing the nylon lines.
