Single lightweight battery in Early 911

I'm gearing up for this winter's upgrades to my car, I'll be installing a wheel arch mounted front cooler, hopefully installing an un-cracked dash and replacing the arcane fusebox with blade style fuses, and tidying up all the wires at the same time.

I've also decided to fit a single gel type lightweight battery into the car, either in the left hand size battery box or in the smugglers box. My questions are:

Which battery to use? Odyssey are available in the UK I'm looking at the PC680MJT
How many CCA's do I need to fire up a 2.4E engine (I'll be looking to upgrade this engine going forward would I need a more powerful battery?)

As always your thoughts are much appreciated

btw this car is for street use in the UK and will not be used in below Zero (Celsius, 32 degrees F) conditions

A friend of mine uses the Odyssey 680 in his 2.3 liter VW, it works great in summer weather. He was sold on it by his brother's friends using the same one in their Ford 5.0 liter V8 Mustangs. When I was talking to the battery expert at the battery store, the guy kept saying its not enough for winter use. I tried to tell him the cars are never driven below 10-15ºC, but he couldn't understand that.
If you use it down to 0ºC, you are pushing your luck. You'd probably be better off with the Odyssey 925. A future larger engine with higher compression may warrant this bigger battery.
BTW, do not get the one with the MJ at the end of the part number. This is a useless metal jacket.

so the little batteries are gutless in temperate conditions?

If I go for the 925, I'm not going to see much of a weight saving over using a single Bosch or Varta battery though am I?

Does anyone know how many CCA's, amp hours, and what size "power reserve" (whatever that is) I need to happily crank a 911 engine come rain or shine?

just spoken to the UK suplier of Odessy batteries and they've run pc680's on a number of cars (Forrds, subaru's, Landrover's) in the UK in all weathers with no problems.

I think I'll go with the lightweight number, if it proves useless in the autumn/spring I can always put the old batteries back in...
