WTD: SWB 911 PPI in Kansas City. MO

Looking for a competent individual to evaluate a SWB 911 in the Kansas City, MO. area. It doesn't even need to be a mechanic simply someone with two eyes (even one eye would work!) and a brain who can tell me how rusted this old soldier is.
I am happy to pay for your time.

Many thanks,

Frank

Todd thanks for responding so quickly. Time is of the essence so I'm hoping that you can do this tomorrow (2/8)????? The seller claims that the car is being stored in an abandoned underground salt mine that's now an RV storage facility (what the ?????- Here in Arizona that would be a National Park). I've heard of midwesterners being referred to as cave dwellers before but I didn't know that it was literal. LOL

Please email me at bipshop@qwest.net and I'll give you the guy's phone #. Bill me whatever your time is worth. Hopefully you're not an attorney.
Thanks,
Frank

Man, a SWB in my own backyard.. How'd I miss that? Frank, if things don't work out, would you mind passing it along to me for a look see. Thanks, and no worries, I won't try and snag it out from under ya

I'm kind of new to Porsches but I know that this car is nothing special. It's not even a Targa and it has some parts that don't seem right. Instead of the normal comfortable flat seats it has two really small tight bucket seats that don't even have a movable backrest. They have the original material but the backs look like cheap fiberglass. The gas tank is this huge thing that doesn't have room for the spare tire in it. It looks like the spare tire has to sit on top of it. The right rear fender looks to be modified because someone added a second fuel cap there right behind the passenger door. How dumb is that? Someone has removed the interior and it also has this ridiculous looking rollbar. The only cool thing about the car is that it does have the original "daisy" wheels on it but they look wider than what I'm used to seeing.
The car has been sitting at least 30 years that much I know.

RetroSC,
I'm not kidding.
I don't have the imagination to fabricate a story like that.

Todd and the car owner are still trying sync their schedules.
Are you available if Todd runs out of time?

Let’s see:

“…a second fuel cap there right behind the passenger door.”
“The gas tank is this huge thing that doesn't have room for the spare tire in it.”
“…two really small tight bucket seats that don't even have a movable backrest.”
“…also has this ridiculous looking rollbar.”
“…original "daisy" wheels on it but they look wider….”

Sure sounds like a ’72 (possibly Factory?) race or GT 911 to me.
‘72 oil filler cap.
The 120 liter fuel tank.
GT seats.
Factory? Roll bar.
Fuchs 7”, 8”, 9”?

Could the SWB designation be in error?
If it is SWB, could it be a 911R?

Nail it down for inspection.
“Purchase agreement:”
the buying process

If it is something significant, you might talk me into looking for you.

Best,
Grady

I'm pretty sure Frank's post was 'tongue in cheek'. The car is a rust bucket underneath. Frank will be getting some pics later today.
Also stored in limestone mine not a salt mine. Pretty cool setup, constant temp and humidity, just a little dusty.

Todd

Yes Todd it was strictly for entertainment purposes.
(Sorry Grady.)

This was certainly a barn find (or mine find)- it's much like the horse poop on the floor of the barn.
This '66 911 was on ebay a couple of days ago and will probably go back on ebay shortly! Unfortunately this poor seller is clueless.
Todd, I would guess that people are going to be asking you about this gem.
Again thank you for all of your help.
Please let me know what I owe you.

Frank

Nothing owed. Sorry it doesn't look like it will work out. If it is ok with you I will post the pics I took for you here, that way people can get an idea of the car.

Take the 23rd st exit off of 435 N, just north of the I70/435 intersection. It is right there as you get off of 435 on 23rd street. Interterstate underground storage. Quite the operation. $40/mnth for storage of vehicles. Like I said nice dry, constant climate storage. Just pretty dusty so you would definately want to cover the car.

Todd,
You're a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you! Let me know the next time you need parts.

$40 a month? Are you kidding me?????????????
Phoenix, AZ. single car inside storage rate is $130-180 monthly.
San Fernando valley in CA. last time I checked was about $300 monthly.
Send some of that storage space out West.

Well I am looking for a 3.4L 996 engine for the Boxster. Let me know if you know of one at a reasonable price.

Yeah but is it technically inside if it is in a cave?

Todd

I figured it was those mines off 435, those are unbelievably large. I had a client in there once, you can drive around forever and get seriously lost... ask how I know

So is the guy asking too much for this bucket? I'm looking for a parts car in the 2-4K range.... is this a possible candidate?

The seller still has my money so assuming that the rust is as bad as Todd indicates the car would still be available. The price WAS in the $3500-$4000 range. You're local so it might work for you. The shipping throws a kink in it for me.
I'll let you know whether I'm in or out once I see the pics.
