It seems like I might have a right side tensioner going bad.
There is not really any odd noises at low idle, but if idle is increased, it sounds like the chain is dragging or hitting something. Sorta like pulling a chain over the lip of a can, the sound increases with engine speed, with a stethoscope, the noise is really strong in the right chain case cover, the left side, just has the whirring sound, nothing odd. This started yesterday while I was at my mail box, and when I got ready to move, I heard the noise, when I increased the engine speed to move. I have only driven it 60 miles since replacing the oil pressure sender, and having to take all the crap off to do that, now it looks like I will have to take it all back off again to check the tensioners. A few questions now: 1. if you replace one side, should you not go ahead and do both? 2. what about the chains, do they need replacing? 3. does anyone have a parts list of all the required parts, gaskets, crush washers, ramps, guards etc. and any other associated parts needed to replace the tensioners?

I forgot to ask, is it usually obvious to see that the tensioner is bad once the covers are off? Thanks.

No, it is not usually obvious to tell a bad tesnsioner if it is the normal mode of failure, weakness by aging. If it is a catastrophy like the pin is broken off or something then it is obvious.
How old are they?

It was obvious on mine. You could push the pin down on the broken one with light finger pressure. The good side took considerable pressure to push down. But the sounds yours made is the exact opposite mine did. The chain would make noise at low rpm and then become normal at higher rpm's.

Maybe it is a guard or ramp broken? I will find out I guess when I take the covers off. Before I start, I do want to have all the parts located though.
