Track width question
 

I'm putting the final touches on the 912-6 before my next DE next month. Got the tape measure out last night and measured the track width of the front and rear wheels. On the front I got 1600mm, on the rear I got 1560mm.

Anyone think this will cause handling issues? Can't find what the stock measurement is online anywhere.

I'm running 7x17 993 rims on all 4 corners with 1" spacers in front and 3/4" spacers in the rear. I could swap them if needed, but don't have any issues front or rear with tires rubbing.

I cannot comment on the handling characteristics, neither do I have figures for a "912". Seems to me that the rear should perhaps be a bit wider than the front...

The 3.2 liter ROW Carrera figures are
front track 1372 mm
rear track 1380 mm
(both "empty car")

In general....a wider front track will lessen understeer ( or increase oversteer, if you will)..and a wider rear track will promote more understeer ( less oversteer).

Track is measured...I believe... from the respective hub mounting surfaces...not from outside-tire-edge... to....outside-tire-edge. Holy cow !...1600 mm is what?, almost 63 inches? How are you measuring that ??

Yes, I measured from outside tire to outside tire. Used my trusty metric stanley tape measure.

Track is measured to the center of the wheel. You can increase your track by running more positive offset on your wheels. Your car will have a narrower rear track. A mid 70's 911 had a front track of 1370 mm & 1355 mm in the rear.

Your's is probably slightly less than that because the 912's had solid rotors, didn't they? The vented rotors increased the track slightly.
