pressure testing oil lines
I've fabricated some new oil lines for an auxilary oil cooler on my 993. I'm using Earl's perform-o-flex and swivel hose ends. I was wondering what is the best way to pressure test the hose/end connections before I plumb the coolers?
Thanks. |

I think aircraft spruce has a kit for a "bubble test", which involves two plugs, one with a bicycle-style valve, into which you put no more than 10 lbs of air. You dunk it underwater, and look for bubbles.
I've never had a fabbed line leak, and my spyder is covered with 'em, and I've done three oil cooler setups in the last 10 years. What I have had leak was stainless flared junctions as the stainless is too hard to conform to the aluminum AN fittings.
