Pelican Parts Ferrari vs. Porsche: The real reason I got this car...

The real reason, I had a nice, free parking spot in my garage:

Now, the question is for you guys, is, which car is faster?

Some more pics, since a bunch of you asked:

My impressions so far? Lots of people told me that these cars are not all that and bad mouthed them to no end. Sure, I probably got one of the better ones, but I tell you the two cars in the first photo are more like than they are different (they feel very, very similar). Stuff breaks on 25-year old cars all the time - you have to expect it. So far, the car is good, with no major problems, and nothing breaking (except for a brittle piece of plastic on the center console).

Other than its great looking car that goes well?

How's the sound compared to the 911, especially the early ones?
Its one of the reasons why I got the 72 car, the small engine sounds so good ....

What we really need is an in depth survey of the lady pulling capacity between the 308 and a wide body Carrera Cab or Targa. The same bloke - Wayne - two cars and one intent. Lets see what happens!

Wayne, I tried to steer clear of the obvious argument between an SC and Carrera in this department, but if wish to open this wound and offend many of the SC members on ths board....well you're the boss (now running for cover).

Wayne, that car is beatiful.

May I also add that you live in a very posh neighborhood - the houses there are HUGE.

Been following the 308 thread(s) since you started them Wayne. I don't blame you one bit for getting the 308. Your 308 is soooooo sweet looking. I know there are "better" Ferraris out there, but the 308 is just THE Ferrari to me. Maybe it's the Magnum PI that dad always watched when I was young. That car rocks.

I too have wanted one and was leary of the tales of servicing the car and also the claims of unreliability. Good to hear people say that these issues can sometimes be exaggerated. Be that as it may, the fact that you got a 308 that's been looked after quite well makes a huge difference when it comes to maintaining and servicing your new toy.

Just some questions.............

What's the deal with the GTB/Berlinetta 308? Is the GTB more rare/hard to find? Would you rather have a GTB without the targa or do you prefer the open top experience?

Did you consider the 328? I kinda like the looks of them a little better but they seem to be significantly more expensive. Is the price increase worthy or no?

More pictures! I think the 308/328 is so racy looking with the trademark flying buttress and the sharp NACA looking ducts down the sides. Can you tell i'm jealous???

Sorry Wayne, that car is just too Magnum P.I. for me. Also I find the interiors, particularly the dash to look very dated.

Sweet car.
LMAO!!!!

I've always thought those were one of the best looking cars ever built. Personally, if you're as mechanical as most of us (I'm sure you are), then who cares how good a car is. If you have the money and the time, any car can be kept up to perfect condition.

Well if you mean which one can get out of the garage faster... clearly the F-car.

If you're really serious I'll come down and drive them both at the next local autocross and I'll let you know!
