Head stud replacement

I need to replace 3 head studs that are broken on a 1980 sc. First off, on a car with only 100k miles on it, how do the studs break, sounds so serious(new to 911's)

All else mechanically is perfect, any idea on cost for replacement of studs??

Three broken studs is serious especially if two are on one cylinder. The lower studs are made of Dilivar and are subject to corrosion, the upper studs are made of steel and should be fine. I am currently working on replacing mine. I thnk you could budget 3-5K for this job.

With three broken it would be best to have it repaired earlier than later before you do possible damage to the cylinders.
