Okay, I was a little embarrassed (still more BB2 Pictures)

The last time my 911 was out in public, at the German Auto Fest, I hadn't even found the time to wash it. And beyond that, the car is seriously overdue for a repaint, as it's got almost two years of monthly track events on it. The last time I tried touching up the stone chips on the front bumper, I ended up using some black muffler paint and just, well, brushing paint on the bumper.

Today, I slightly corrected my bad work, by painting the front bumper and impact bar. I did it with a rattle can -- with a 'hammer finish' type of Rustoleum, which makes the texture of the thousands of chips seem slightly more intentional. Still, it's time to take the car in to Kevin (at Automotive Innovations and Restoration) for paint work. I've just got to find the right time window (and blessing from the wife) to go in and do it.

In the meantime, I took it out today for a drive up to Topanga, and took some pictures. The digital camera is very kind to my paint.

The red stuff turns it into a clown car. But for track-only use, I'm willing to give them a try. Here's the red stuff.

Still... clown car.

o.k. Jack.....just for me...clarify how red make one's 911 a "clown car" ...

Personally, I think the red side skirts and front airdam extension look cool in a very temporary way...as in easily removable - but still cool.

I was almost warming up to the Gruppe B@stards, and then I'm reminded again of how much they scare me.

My Theory

I think Jack is really an undercover marketing rep for Pelican... Each time I see his car I get the uncontrollable urge to order stuff.

You could rally that thing on gravel roads and it would still look better than mine.

Looks kind of like someone dropped my car on top of the Rooster, doesn't it?

I'm going to try them out this week. If there's an improvement, I'll keep them. And now that they're red, they'll probably stay that way.

Toothzilla, here's the interior.

Can't wait to see the results... other than lap times, are you going to do any *testing* to see the effects?

Yep ,it's a shame ,you've totally de-valued that old car ,I feel bad for you so here's what I'll do ,I'll trade you an '88 Carrera with the ORIGINAL stone chips......you could sell the stone chips alone on e-bay for a small fortune.........please hurry up and reply because I have to call a Dr if this "wood" lasts more than four hours......

Jack:
When going for a repaint you may want to consider spraying the bottom portion of your front spoiler with Body Schutz and then applying finish paint over. Then when you get chips you can easily dab a drop of paint to cover. It is then virtually invisible. You can also do the same to the bottom of you flare extensions and rockers.
