clutch wear
My 88' is a daily driver with lots of Los Angeles traffic. At stop signs I was told to keep the car in neutral then go to 1st gear once the light is green as opposed to sitting with the clutch engaged (good work out for you left calf muscle but hard on the wallet!) Is this good advice?

Yes. I believe that with the clutch pedal in, the throwout bearing spins. Often a clutch needs replace because the throwout bearing dies. Therefore, you can extend its life, by NOT holding the clutch in at stoplights.

ditto. I've heard this ISN'T the case with motorcycles, but otherwise it holds true for all cars.
