Angry MFI Adjustment screw missing?!?!

I went to lean out my newly rebuilt motor today so that I could put some miles on it, but when I put the porsche specific tool into the part throttle hole, it just bottomed out, without ever hitting a screw. THe hole just narrowed to the point that the screwdriver wouldn't go any farther. I think I can get a screw from another pump, but where in the world do I start to tune thing thing?!

Little help?

I thought you had CMA'ed this motor before? Is it the same pump?

I had to file down my adjustment tool a lot before it would fit all the way into the hole. Are you sure its actually going far enough to reach the screw?

Shuie's right, the screw is in there about 3/4 of an inch and it's a bit of a challenge to align the blade with the slot, blind. The one problem is that you aren't going straight in. The flex version of the tool is recommened to correct this.

So, if the screw happens to be oriented horizontal, chances are you're on the screw (if you're in there 3/4") but not centered and are missing the slot.

THis is a different pump, it's an E pump, not the original T. I'll go out and file it down and see what happens

i use a length of welding rod hammered into a flat on one end and bent into a handle on the other. nice and flexy. 2 solenoid pumps have to have the bolt on the left rear side of the pump backed out somewhat to get an internal piece out of the way before you can get to the screw.

This is a 2.4 pump, only one solenoid. I put a brazing rod down the hole to see how far it would go.. it went down about 2.2 inches, a whole lot more than the 3/4 of an inch it should be.

I've tried looking at the exploded diagrams but they don't make a whole lot of sense to me
