Need seatbelt install help?

I'm installing new front belts in the SC. I got a set in very nice shape from another pelican this week

How do you get the belt to extend. I can't seem to pull more than an inch without the centrifical lock kicking in?

What am I missing??

Jeff

Thsi has to be simple and it's making me nuts. I can't extend the belt at all. If were one I'd say it was busted, but it's both.

What am I missing

I had this same question about the new belts that I got for my 951. The belt mechanism must be in the same orientation that it's in when installed in the car in order for it to release. They're designed this way to ensure that the car's occupants are held in place in the case of a rollover. Just go ahead and install them, or hold them so that the belt pulls directly out of the top of the retractor.
