Polish, how do I remove it?
I hope this isn't too stupid a question.
What is the best way/product to remove the old polish from the car before I prep and repolish? I have been using Mer polish. Seems quite good, but I am polishing dirt not paint, if you know what I mean. ![]() ![]()

Mark,
I think most folks will use a bit of standard dishwashing soap, or "washing up liquid" in your case in thier wash bucket. This will remove the old wax and allow you to start new. The rest of the time use a good "made for car" washing soap that doesn't remove wax. Then you're set to polish and wax, or just wax if the paint is in good condition. Some people clay once a year to remove surface contaminants but there is some debate on whether it is good for the paint. An excellent website to check out proper car care is Autopia.org (edited correct website address) Cheers, Last edited by Face; 09-12-2004 at 06:19 AM.. |
