oil sensor leaking ?????
I have a oil leak on the drivers side, front side of the motor.... next to the valve cover. Its is definately not coming from the valve cover.
It appears to be weeping down the front side of the motor, closest to the firewall. From searching......sounds like an oil pres. sensor. Anyone have a pic & do I access from the top or bottom. Great working where you cant see!

oil pressure sender
This may or may not help. I recently did the breather cover, o-ring, and pressure sender seal rings (well, I didn't obtain new seal rings because I can't find them (WTF?)) on my '73E.
You don't have the old style sender, I believe, which is good as mine still is leaking a little from the bottom of the sender body plastic/metal interface. ![]()

If it is the oil pressure switch/sender , it is on top of the motor behind and just to the left of the air box. You have to remove the air box to access it. It will have a wire connected to the top of it. It is not a hard fix. Take less than an hour. You might want to stick mirror and light back there first to see if you see it leaking.

The oil pressure sender is on the passenger side. You can see it in the second picture, about 2 inches left of the breather cover, the top of it looks kind of red. It and the surrounding area are covered with oil. Just above the tranny mounting stud.
I can't think of anything off the top of my head on the driver's side that would leak oil on top of the engine unless the breather cover is leaking and the oil is running that way. |
