What's my engine worth?
I'm considering selling my engine, an 18,000km-old, twin-plug MFI 2.9 with high compression, RSR-style pistons, 'S' cams, solid rocker arms, and ported heads encased in an original '73 RS 7R crankcase.
![]() The engine's induction system -- individual MoTeC throttle bodies -- helps makes this engine the most responsive 911 engine this side of a '73 RSR mill. Why am I selling it? I think I have a legitimate reason: I want a 3.6. So what's it worth?

Matt
One reason 'against' is if you put a 3.6 in that car it will be ineligle for pretty much anything except low level club stuff (eg. no targa tas or classic adelaide, no historics, and a maybe for prod sports racing) which may make the car hard to sell in the future. The last 3.6 early car for sale in NSW took nearly a year to sell and ended up in NZ - and it was mint and well priced.

Agreed - sell the long block, keep the ignition and induction, and build yourself a 3.2 or 3.4 with RSR style pistons...

Ryan,
Good point! I forgot about that! Wayne, I like the way you think. What do you think my core is worth?
